Mercedes Grand Touring Roadster Featured at Cincinnati Auto Auction

1999 Mercedes 300SL FrontIt was 1886 when Carl Benz created his first automobile, a three-wheeled ”wagon’ with a rear-mounted, single-cylinder engine. His wife Bertha Benz even became the first female driver in history when she took a 120 miles road trip in which she served as her own mechanic, as service stations wouldnt be around for some time yet. Over the years, Mercedes-Benz has earned a reputation for setting the gold standard by which all other vehicles are judged, and the 1991 Mercedes 300SL we have up for auction this week is no exception.

Mercedes’¦ you know the name, now drive the car! The SL-class ‘“ known as the SL Roadster before 1994 ‘“ is an established, reliable Mercedes class thats been rolling off the assembly line since 1954. ”SL’ stands for ”sport lightweight’ and every generation of this class has been well-received, as indicated by how long-lived they are.

According to Edmunds, this SL class is known for its ”spirited performance, decent handling and plenty of luxury.’ The vehicle we have up for auction also clocks in well under 100,000 miles at 89,174. The gas mileage is fairly standard for a car of its time. It comes with rear-wheel drive, a fuel capacity of about twenty gallons, and like other vehicles in its class, should handle like a dream if its well-maintained.
