The Mercury Grand Marquis was first introduced by the Ford Motor Company back in 1975, where it was marketed as the high-end model in the Marquis line. Like the popular Ford Crown Victoria and Lincoln Town Car, the Grand Marquis was built on the rear-wheel drive Panther platform. It was sold from 1975 to 2011.

The 2000 model were featuring is from the third-generation of the Grand Marquis line, which received several new interior and exterior design updates.
