Automotive icons like the Mercedes-Benz SL series become that way because they have staying power.
This fourth generation 1992 Mercedes-Benz 500SL (known at the SL-Roadster class prior to 1994) is the 90’s version of the popular grand touring roadster manufactured by Mercedes since 1954. Why the “SL” designation? “SL” stands for “Sport Lightweight,” and was first applied to the 300SL version in the early 90’s. Just 4,879 of this model were ever made.
This sporty car came standard with a M119 V8 engine with 326 hp that could get the car hopping from 0-100 km/h in 6.2 seconds. Built to seat two people, owning this classic is more about enjoying the ride, acceleration, and turning radius than running kids to soccer practice.
