Spring has sprung, and that can only mean one thing: its time for spring cleaning! If cleaning your garage is on your spring cleaning to-do list, follow these three steps to clear out the clutter and create more storage space in your garage:
Step 1: Clear everything out
If youre like many people, your garage becomes a catch-all for everything from Christmas decorations to sports equipment throughout the year. In order to get everything organized, youll need to clear everything out and sort through the items one by one. Start by removing everything from your garage and placing the items in your driveway or yard. Then, proceed to step two.
Step 2: Give the garage a top-to-bottom cleaning
With everything out of the way, you can now give your garage a deep cleaning. Start by sweeping, then use a hose or pressure washer to clean the floors of dirt and dust. Wipe down all surfaces and use a broom to remove any cobwebs from the ceiling.
Step 3: Assess and maximize storage space
Once youve thoroughly cleaned your garage from top to bottom, its time to reorganize the contents. Go through the items one at a time to decide what you can keep, donate, or recycle/throw away. Use overhead shelving, pegboards, and storage carts to keep tools, cleaning supplies, and other stored items well-organized and out of the way. Install overhead hooks to hang bicycles and make room for your vehicles. After all, garages are meant to be a place to park your cars! That being said, if you have an unused or non-operating vehicle that is taking up space in your garage, consider donating it to Ohio Valley Goodwill!
At Ohio Valley Goodwill, our car donation process is simple and easy. We gladly accept vehicles (including cars, vans, SUVs, trucks, RVs, motorcycles, and even boats) in any condition.
