Classic car enthusiasts, we have a vehicle for you this week at the Goodwill Auto Auction in Cincinnati: a beautiful, red, convertible 1976 Triumph Spitfire roadster! If youre ready to add a sports car to your garage and make driving a little more fun, check out our auction on Saturday, December 14th.
The Triumph Spitfire was first unveiled at the London Motor Show in 1962. Based on Italian designer Giovanni Michelottis original prototype, this British two-seat roadster was made to be a lightweight, budget-friendly sports car. Its name honors an iconic WWII fighter plane, the Supermarine Spitfire.
A total of five different Spitfire models were sold during the production run, and the 1976 model were featuring is the Spitfire 1500. Only 95,829 Spitfire 1500s were produced between 1974 and 1980, but the 1976 model year is one of the more popular versions.
Under the hood, this Triumph has a 1492 cc 4-cylinder inline engine with a 4-speed manual transmission and rear-wheel drive to ensure sporty handling on the road. With seating for two, this convertible also comes with a soft top and luggage rack on the rear deck. In a bright red color, this car is fun to drive and certainly eye-catching!
Due to the popularity of British sports cars like the Triumph, its somewhat rare to find them in quality condition. The 1976 model were featuring has been taken care of; in fact, it only has 47,907 miles on its odometer! Dont miss this amazing opportunity to own a piece of history with this fabulous car.
